SKY Resilience Program Details

SKY Resilience Program is a customized evidence-based program for law enforcement officers and departments that will equip them with prevention strategies for occupational stress, improve focus and mental health, heal trauma and enhance overall resilience. The program uses the well-researched SKY Breath Meditation (SKY) technique that has been shown to decrease anxiety, depression and stress, improve well-being, positive emotions, mindfulness, and social connection.

Customized programs have been developed for Police Departments and Law Enforcement Agencies to offer staff tools and techniques to promote emotional intelligence, leadership and service learning. Research shows that SKY significantly increases well-being and significantly reduces anxiety and stress markers. 

A recent study out of Yale shows that SKY Breath Meditation provided many more benefits than mindfulness or emotional intelligence training. A Harvard/University of Arizona study showed that SKY was more effective than a traditional cognitive training program. SKY Breath Meditation has also been found to be particularly effective for post-traumatic stress.

Program Overview

Law enforcement is considered a high-stress profession – due to regular exposure to high-risk situations involving violence and potentially life-threatening situations.

The SKY Resilience Program is a complete well-being and resilience training tailored for law enforcement. Research out of Yale, Harvard and other universities show that SKY builds emotional, social and psychological resilience to occupational stress. SKY’s experiential curriculum includes interactive group processes, Yoga, SKY Breath Meditation, positive psychology, emotional intelligence, leadership and service learning.

Program Modules

Personal Empowerment
Self Care & Compassion

Participants will learn to identify and overcome personal challenges. During this module, participants learn:

  • Core Values and Human Values
  • Sources of Energy
  • The Science of Breath

Authentic & Centered Leadership

Participants learn how to develop interpersonal skills that enable greater effective leadership and achieve a clear, and positive state of mind. This module includes:

  • The physiology of stress
  • Interactive processes to enhance emotional & social intelligence
  • The nature of the human mind and emotions

Building Authentic & Trusted Relationships

Participants develop greater mutual respect & understanding, build strong relationships and enhance their skills to be involved in seamless teamwork.

  • Physiological tools to manage mind and body
  • Framework for authentic and centered leadership
  • SKY Breath & meditation techniques to reduce stress, improve health & wellbeing, enhance energy levels

Visioning and Modeling Change

Participants create a personal plan to apply the gained knowledge in transforming themselves, their organizations and communities. During the module, they discuss:

  • Group discussions to enable mutual respect, understanding and build strong trusted relationships
  • Visioneering – establish goals and commit to action
